About the work

"Water Lilies" is a contemporary painting inspired by the timeless beauty of waterlilies, reimagined in a modern, minimal language. Referencing Cézanne’s explorations of nature and form, this acrylic on canvas evokes a tranquil pond, where soft turquoise tones meet deep green lily pads. Bright dragonflies disrupts the calm, adding tension and contrast to the peaceful scene. The dripping layers create depth and texture, inviting viewers to pause and reflect. "Water Lilies" is part of Michael Van Craelingen’s ongoing investigation into form, color, and balance, blending contemporary art and abstract nature.
